Office of the Prime Minister

Office of the Prime Minister

The Office of the Prime Minister is one of the most powerful parts of government. It is comprised of the Prime Minister and his top political staff, who advise the Prime Minister on decisions. The Prime Minister’s website provides all the latest news in decision and policymaking as well as offering a glimpse into the Prime Minister’s daily activities and highlighting how Canada is being represented around the world and on key issues.

We get results!

Challenge

We tackle the most complex digital challenges for North America’s top enterprises. Every day, our teams are challenged to break new ground and deliver cutting edge experiences. Boring is not in our vocabulary.

Solution

Our project teams work in cohesive units called PODs. This means that you work with the same team on each project, enabling efficient collaboration as you learn and grow together.

Results

We are obsessed with learning. Our team members have the opportunity to learn all aspects of their team’s work. Each member is able to contribute in various ways while they discover their passion.

How we did it

The Challenge

The Privy Council Office, which was acting on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, required a website redesign that would captivate a very discerning audience and provide them with the information necessary to bolster a country.

The new website needed to function well, resonate with its audience, and stand-up to security threats.  The White House, NASA, and many other government agencies had recently moved to Drupal.  And we quickly followed in their footsteps.

Test drive Drupal today!

Drupal has great standard features, like easy content authoring, reliable performance, and excellent security. But what sets it apart is its flexibility; modularity is one of its core principles. Its tools help you build the versatile, structured content that dynamic web experiences need. After a few clicks, you can access a full Drupal installation!

The Solution

OPIN was engaged by the Privy Council Office on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister to plan design, develop, and implement the new website for the Prime Minister of Canada.

The project timeline was very short, with only three months to complete a new creative design, implement the new Drupal system, and develop the required custom theme and modules.  To keep the project on track, our project managers revised the project schedule on a weekly basis, addressing leads and lags when necessary.

Our creative director worked tirelessly with the Prime Minister’s creative team to develop the new designs, which would later be recognized by the International Summit Creative Awards as the Best Government Web Design of 2014 and by Acquia as the 2015 Partner site of the year

The search interface was powered by Google Search Appliance (GSA). Leveraging existing contributed modules, and extending their functionality with our own custom modules, we implemented Google Search Appliance, including faceted searching.

The Prime Minister’s staff, including the communications department from the Privy Council Office, were provided with fundamental Drupal training, ensuring they could effectively manage content.

It was an honour for me to work on the Prime Minister’s website. I wanted a clean and simple design that would appeal to a very diverse group of people. It is extremely rewarding for me to work on a site of this magnitude.
